Freelander not firing on cylinder 3

Hi all

got a landrover freelander 1.8 petrol. just had a diagnostic due to it spluttering and eating petrol. the fella said it was not firing on cylinder 3 soon as he put a used fiesta spark plug in though the power has come back but still spluttering abit. we didnt say anything to the mechanic. the mechanic reckons we need to strip the engine which will cost £750 to repair. does anyone think that we just need new spark plugs? advice please

just an idea, why not risk the £20 or so for a new set of spark plugs and see what happens ? could be lots of things, leads, plugs, coil packs, distributor etc.

no you just need a new choice of motor,but if you have to have a gaylander dont get the petrol one
