I hope everyone had a good Christmas,

My tailgate window has decided to stop working I think the window isn’t fully closed as the rear wiper has also stop working and I can open the door very carefully. I have checked the fuse and removed the motor to check the cables, which all appear to be ok. Also the indicators don’t always work, also I have checked the fuse and I don’t think it’s the stalk as the hazards don’t work when the indicators are not working. I am sue I saw the green trailer light come on the other day when the indicators decide to work. Any advise would be greatly appreciate.

Cheers
Dex

With so many electrical items playing... It makes me wonder if it's the switch ont rear of ignition barrel failing. The contacts carbon up over time and cause problems. If trying to fault find it I would first follow the hazards not working as they should work any time the button is pressed.

Update Re. tailgate window. When I activate the close switch I can hear the window motor turning and when I activate the close switch I hear a blip coming from the dashboard.

Are you 100% certain the cables are good. Freelander window regulators are the worst I've ever come across and fail for fun. They tend to fray badly and get tangled.

Hi Alibro, I will take another look. My only problem now is how do I get the tailgate open without the window working

With difficulty unfortunately. Unless someone can advise better you'll need to prise the top of the door card off (it hooks over the lip) and cut one of the wires to let the window drop.
I guess you might be able to force the window down. Sometimes you can force windows down by pushing against it with the palms of your hands. Even better if someone is doing the same from the inside.

Thank you for your reply. This will be a scary job
