Don't know if anyone can help me, but my Dad has a Freelander TD4 and
the heater fan only works on the number 4 position. Is there an easy
fix for this or does he have to sell his vital organs and my Mum
(again)?

Can't be specific about the Freelander, but only working on max
usually points to a resistor pack failing. My Saab had the resistor
pack located in the fan housing. They are usually a large plug-in
module with resistors used for every fan speed other than max. The
resistors don't usually fail (they are large coils of wire) but there
is a thermal fuse which needs to be replaced. If this applies in your
case, ensure the replacement thermal fuse is crimped, not soldered as
the heat from soldering will blow it straight away. Thermal fuses
available from Maplins etc.
