Hi, I'm new here but could do with a bit of help. I have a Freelander ES (Y plate), the TC and Hill descent light keep coming on intermittently when I brake, they sometime come on together and sometimes just the hill descent one comes on they stay on for a short time then go out again, also tonight I have notticed that occasionally the car seems to splutter as though it is going to cut out, then rights itself and everything is OK. Anyone any ideas? Could both problems be linked Recently had the head gaskett done as that went!

Is it a manual or automatic?

What engine is it? 1.8...????

Does the HDC or TC work when you try it?

Hi, it is a 1.8 manual.

When the amber HDC is lit I can't get it to work but it works ok when it's not lit. Sorry to sound stupid but how would I get the TC to work? (Should have left this until husband comes home!) Thanks for your time.

had the same problem myself with my v6 es, just after i got it, turned out to be the ecu for the gearbox !! how ever, mines tipronic !! sensor error.

Thanks for your help. Turns out it is a dodgy brake switch. Local Landrover Dealer put it on the computer, told me there was nothing wrong and charged me £43, went round the corner to a local 4 x 4 centre and their computer said it was the brake switch, ordered new switch so hopefully that will sort it out. :)
