freelander electrics

have got a freelander 2 and the battery light comes on after I have travelled 100 meters. Battery is good and alternator seems ok tho ive yet to test it. Could it be landys way of telling me of specific problems.

You can't guess that an alternator is ok, it needs testing.
Some tyre/exhaust places will do it for free (ATS round my way) or buy a cheap multimeter and check it yourself.
I'm old school though, the Freelander might have all sorts of confusing , to me, electrical stuff that may throw up the same fault.
Best ask in the Freelander section not the intro section for best response.

Many thanks Flossie. Think ive located the problem. Its the alternator communication wire. ( usually blue). Ive tested the alternator and found it to be working okay. Tho it looks like a pig to replace or bypass. Don't know if it needs alternator out. still awaiting advice for a quick fix. have found that heated seats wont work when battery light is on. All pointing to communication wire integrity failure.
