Hi THERE,
Im about to have the clutch replaced on my freelander with 100,000 on the clock. Should the dmf be replaced at the same time or would i get away with just the clutch replacement.
Price for the dmf. Alone is over 400 pounds.
Many thanks.

depends how worn it is, did it vibrate when using the clutch?
normally you cant tell untill you take the gear box out though to see how much play is in it.

We have only ever changed one DMF in all the clutches we have done. normally you will lose drive long before you damage the DMF.
If it is a TD4 then you must change the cluch slave at the same time as if not and it fails then its the box out again.
Down side it that you are looking around the £500 mark for the job, if not doing it your self.

You will only be able to tell when the DMF comes out. If there is any play in it then its recommended to change it while the clutch is been done, along with the slave cylinder. Think its a all day job, so its the labour that costs a lot of money so wouldn't want the DMF to be done at a later date else that would cost almost as much as the whole job now.

I just had mine done at 94k and was £996 for Clutch, slave, DMF and I beleive they changed the IRD oil at the same time which isnt too cheap either.

Steve
