Freelander boot ?

What is this in the picture
I have had 4 Freelanders and one was brand new 04 and I cannot remember ever seeing this before

I think its the rear sub woofer

It is. If it works I wouldn't mind details of the sub woofer amp, think it is under the seat. I have the sub woofer but no amp and so it does nothing!!

i honestly can’t remember it in the brochure when I got my 04 sport
It one I am look at on eBay for sale , you can see it mounted on wood so makes sense it’s a sub

It is the HK sub woofer. It was optional or standard, depending on model. If you have the sub, it'll also have the "Harmon Kardon" name on the front door tweeter cover.

Has it been stored in a garage since new and not driven?

Looks very dry.
