Hi
I wonder if anyone can help. A few moths ago when we had the snow I tried to open the tail gate on my Freelander the window moved down a bit and then nothing (I think it was frozen.) I could not open the door use wipers or open the window or from inside. I have take the panel off the door and managed to open the door. Now can anyone tell me what I should do next to rectify the problem please?

Sounds like there is no electrical power reaching the tailgate circuits. Frozen windows and wipers tend to blow fuses as their motor currents surge. If the relevant fuses are o.k then I would check wiring and relays en route to the tailgate motors.

Yes. But first use a multimeter or test lamp and check if there are any live feeds to the tailgate circuits. If there are then a resync might work, but from what you describe it sounds like there is no power at all to the tailgate? One other thought: the wiring to the tailgate often chafes and snaps where it bends near the hinges but that might be too much of a coincidence in this case. Good luck.

I have checked all the fuses, they are ok. I checked to see if I had live wires at the wiper motor, heated window, I have. If I disconnect the plug behind the handle the rear internal light goes out. It’s a mystery I think I am going to have to take it in to a garage. thank you to all for your help

If you are sure all the fuses are O.K. run a temporary earth wire from the door to the body of the car just in case you have a bad earth path.
