Hi peeps new to here so please be patient with me my freelander 1997 2l diesel has a intermitent starting problem it seems like the fuel is not getting to the injectorors so i have been told by a garage ? i have bypassed the glowplug relay and put it on a switch to try them and they are fine the garage dont seem to interested (or stumped) they say try this or leave it with us but at their prices cant afford that lol, Have cleaned out tank can blow back through the pipes but notice that the hand primer collapses in once you have the engine going once started will stop and start all day long until left overnight again then a hit or miss if it starts again could do with some ideas please cheers :confused::doh:

Could be the hand primer itself, have heard of the built in NRV failing and draining the fuel back to the tank overnight.
My hand primer doesnt collapse in when running.
Also consider the pump timing, if you search the forum there has been recent posts, if the pump timing is even 1 degree out it can be very difficult to start when cold. The pump has to pressurise via cranking before it can then compensate and adjust itself to proper timing.
Hope this helps,

i'd try replacing the handprimer aswell, also when you turn the ignition give it a little while longer before starting it , this helps with mine.

Cheers boys will replace primer tomorrow and i think the timing is okay as some mornings even with a hard frost it will start first turn then the next morning it will flatten the battery and not even fire ? and also sometimes it will fire eratically on one then two then start with loads of white smoke so really cheesed of as both of us luv the freelander and never had any trouble with it before need it fixed for touring soon lol

may aswell check the air filter, put some injector cleaner in the fuel and replace the fuel filter aswell, also was the sender unit in the tank blocked?

done all that as well, cleaned the sender unit and all the pipes so will try it out this week keep my fingers crossed lol cheers for the help peeps
