Hi, I'm David and have recently bought a Freelander 2, 2007, 2.2 Diesel.

I have a notification at intermittent intervals of 'transmission fault traction reduced'. The service history shows a very recent overhaul of the rear diff. Could this mean it only needs a diagnostic reset. I have looked in the owners handbook and the Haynes manual but to no avail.

Also I am a DIY mechanic where appropriate with limited knowledge. I am to replace the fuel filter. Any tips on priming- I have read stories of the battery becoming flat on turnover before fuel flows.

Appreciate any help you guys can give, thanks!

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help please?

I am new to this forum and know very little about cars so if you are able to reply to me and help please keep it simple!

I have just bought a Freelander 2 2011 plate with 65k on the clock.

I only bought it 2 weeks ago and I live in South East London (Camberwell). I bought it in Peterborough so I can't exactly pop back and obviously the dealership (small garage) are saying the fault is not theirs. After a few days I noticed a banging coming from the rear of the vehicle which manifests itself when turning (either way) in both the forwards and reverse gears. This bumping/banging is a repetative noise that continues until I straighten up the car and driver off.

The car is under warranty and I want to get it fixed, my local garage has diagnosed (visually) the diff but I understand it may also obe the Haldex Unit??

The warranty covers repairs up to £1k only and I am trying (unsuccessfully) to get this sorted by way of a diagnosis to give to the warranty company and then get it fixed.

If anyone knows of a company in SE London who can help and that I am not going to get ripped off by then I would greatly appreciate your help. Advise on what the issue could be would also be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

David.

Hi @David De Mott

Welcome to the looneyzone.

You may get a quicker response by going over and placing this technical question in the Freelander section. there are a few resident experts who reside in there and I am sure they could give you a better response.

Good luck.

Cheers
