I've had problems starting the car for over year... most usually the error message said Steering Lock on ( or similar) I visited 3 charlatans who charged for computer diagnosis; two of them said they fixed the error.. maybe, but the non-start returned quite quickly. Starter motor was replaced, new battery.. all to no avail. I learned here on the forum about disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU... this worked but latterly I had to go through the battery disconnect 3 or 4 times before it would fire up,.
Finally I went to the 4th Landrover specialist in my area ( Surrey) He put the diagnositics on, saw the Steering Lock error. He replaced the steering lock with a new one, buttoned it all up in two hours. Steering lock cost £350, he charge £75 per hour which I thought was reasonable.
The daily fear of the vehicle not starting is going ( will take some time I think
) and I'm back in love with the car
