Freelander 2 shuddering at rear

Hi all, I'm new to this group, and proud owner of a Freelander 2. Recently it's been juddering quite noticeably above 50 mph, but not continuously, and not always. If you bring the car to a standstill, without turning off, then set off again, it runs ok. It can do it 2 or 3 times in a 30 minute journey, but doesn't always do it. My local mechanic took it out for a test drive 3 times and it didn't happen. Took it to the LR specialist place, who test drove it and first they said it was the rear LH bearings, but then took it in and are now saying it's the rear diff. There is a droning noise, like it had before the front bearing was done, but in addition to this vibration I'm not sure what's going on. So, anyone have any ideas, or better still, experience of this issue? TIA

If you don't change the haldex oil and filter on the haldex located in the rear diff, the halfex can fail. You can also get issues with rear diff bearings failing. Some faults can be mistaken for wheel bearings failing.
