I recently got a seconds 2009 landrover freelander 2 se i6, automatic 180000kilometers, it a all wheel drive

Few weeks back a strange grinding noise started from driver side, thought its wheelbearings and changed front both. But no use. And also did a transmission service, checked diff oil, machined discs, checked engine mounts, they are good.

And I found following while driving it
1. With engine on and foot on break, while changing gears . I can hear a grinding noise in reverse gear.

2. Some time when I drive it drives smooth in forward direction and as soon as I slow down and engage reverse it starts grinding noise.

3. Some time when I drive forward also, I can hear grinding noise. And when I accelerate smoothly above 60km/hr. There is no grinding sound, and as soon as I let the gas pedal of(without touching brakes) the grinding noise comes back and if I give gas pedal it goes away.

4. I got this car on the 4 hoist and asked my friend to put the gear in drive. And with a pry bar when I livered the mount which holding the driver side drive shaft from diff to wheel. He says that the noise is reduced.

You can hear the grinding noise (it feels like coming near break pedal) only when you are in car. The person outside car near engine can't hear anything.

When I went under the car, I cant hear any noise, when still the person inside the car can hear.

This engine looks like a Volvo engine. And the diff is attached to transmission and one drive shaft is going from diff to driver side wheel. And the other one from the transmission side. While the tail shaft is connected from front diff.

Thanks in advance.
