Hi new member but have used the forums for a number of years for advice. Recently had my PTU replaced and for the two weeks since have been plagued by faint smell of oil which has been getting progressively worse.
I finally got properly underneath it this evening and it appears that a pipe connected to the PTU is in contact with the exhaust and has been melting through as per attached pic.
Looking at google image search this looks an awful lot like a crankcase breather pipe available at a very reasonable cost. My questions are:
1. How could this have happened? I'm assuming it's part of the PTU change which went wrong but wanted to check if anyone has a picture of how this pipe should be mounted?
2. How easy (or difficult) is it to change the pipe? I don't have a lift or ramps available and I'm not keen to drive the car any great distance. If I could instruct my local garage (Jag specialist not LR) this may be a way forward.
Any advice or comments welcome
