Freelander 2 gear problem!

Hi all,this is my first post and hopefully my next ones will be of a more positive nature..
I`ve got a fl2 td4 and its out of manufacturers warranty in july,i`ve heard the dealers aren`t the greatest so want to go in armed with a bit more knowledge....
When i change from 4th to 5th usually it slides in great and works as i would expect but sometimes when i slide it over to 5th it goes past the 5th gear and into the reverse gear chamber...
Obviously i haven`t pulled it down into reverse doing 50 but i don`t drive it much my wife does,,surely this isn`t correct and was wondering what the problem is...
When its normal it stops me moving further over to reverse and slides into 5th as expected and down into 6th but when its wrong then changing gear becomes really tricky and you find yourself fumbling about trying to get it into gear,hope you can help??

If it were me, I would take it to your dealer asap, while it is still under warrenty, explain what the problem is so they can start an investigation. Once that the 'defect' is known about then the warrenty should last until it is fixed to your satisfaction. If you are given the run around then go direct to Land Rover with your complaint with the dealer.
Also you will here lots about dealer complaints, not much about the good ones, give them a try ,you might be pleasantly surprised.
