Hi, just joined Landy Zone. Recently bought freelander 2 2.2 (2007) A few items now the car has been cutting out after 10/20 miles. Took to 4x4 specialist who recommended to change the fuel filter as it wasn’t a Land Rover filter, so they did that car seemed fine then cut out again. Took it back to garage they checked faults again and cleared them all, they also ran it for a good 20 mins & all seemed fine, took it onto motorway got up to 70mph and the same happened again! I’ve mentioned the crank shaft sensor to them but they have said it won’t be that as it does intermittently fault it either works or it doesn’t which contradicts what I have read. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. When running the diagnostics for 20 mins zero faults were shown. Thanks

Hi mate welcome post in the Freelander section sure someone can help, by the way you are right crank sensor can be intermittent usually fails when hot mine would completely shut down (first time in middle of town at traffic lights) if I left mine for a hour the fault could be cleared an it would fire up did it twice more before new sensor arrived lucky work is only a couple of miles away lol

Hi & thanks… nothing worse getting stuck in middle of town.
Replaced it today with land rover sensor but didn’t work still cut out. So I’m going to try the cam shaft sensor as it’s an after market sensor and apparently LR don’t like cheap parts. Sure I will get to the bottom of it

That’s the problem garage using the expensive reader and not showing faults with sensors but I’ve read that ther don’t always through codes out ‍♂️
