Land Rover have designed a bike rack for Freelander 2 that can be fitted to a fixed tow bar installation (Part No: STC50063). This set up allows you to tow a caravan at the same time providing it has the old type of 'wet' (greased) ball hitch.
However, most modern caravans now come with friction pad (hence dry) type hitches that Land Rover say cannot be used in conjunction with their latest bike rack. (Caravan 'A' bars & rear walls should not have racks on them because of possible nose weight & stability problems.)
Bearing in mind that many people , including me, chose to have detachable tow hooks fitted before deciding to buy a bike rack; does anyone know where I can obtain a suitable rack solving this problem?
In the meantime, I'll drop a line to LR's Research & Development Dept and the Caravan Club - watch this space.
