Hi, I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any help or advice regarding my poorly Freelander. For the last two years or so the clutch on my TD4 has slipped, but only if you put your foot down and your in second/third between 2000-3000 revs. It is now beginning to get worse, particularly if I'm pulling a trailer.

My experience of clutches is that once they go they tend to go quickly, but this has gone on for a couple of years. It has done 90k miles so I guess its about time to change the clutch, if that fixes the problem and I don't have to replace the flywheel as well. Landrover garage have promised me a £2k bill if that is the case - hardly seems worth it on a Y reg.

I love my freelander, it was brill in the snow, but the clutch is a pain in the butt - what do I do? Please help!

Check out the slave cylinder as Darmain had similar clutch slip issues a while ago and had to sort this out. Something about a bracket bending under strain

thats only on the 1.8 petrol and the di rover engine, the slave cylinder is inside the gear box bell housing on the gearbox mainshaft on td4,i think you have done well to get a slipping clutch to last that long!!!!! and im sure you can get it done for a lot less than that if you by the parts of eblag as long as the fly wheel is still ok as its a duel mass flywheel on td4 i think

Thanks, that helpful - I still find it hard to believe that the clutch could have lasted that long - just wondered if it might be something else?
