I recently purchased a 2003 Freelander 1 1.8 petrol Hardtop and straight away joined your excellent forum

Thought I'd better introduce myself - My name is Lee and I live in York with my Son and two Dachshunds Foxy and Jack. I have owned several 4X4's and numerous other cars.

This is my first Landrover and my first impressions range from loving the car to thinking what Have I done

My Freelander is in great condition but was handed over to me filthy inside and out. I've given it a good clean and I am very pleased with the quality of the fixtures and fittings.

Mechanically its appears sound but it is in need of a good service which I am going to do myself shortly.

Most annoyingly it suffers from the juddering clutch that is a feature of these cars. This has lessened a tad as I have got used to the clutch and with use I think the linkage has freed up a bit. I have read the helpful pages on the forum regards this and I think I will put up with it until it comes to change the clutch or I get a windfall

Here's to many years of happy freelander ownership - It looks like it might be a rollercoaster ride

and finally Foxy & Jack

Welcome to the forum. you'll see lots of hate for the freelander, but everyones got to start somewhere!! I only kept mine for 6 weeks though before I'd had enough! Hope the HG is ok, I've heard a lot of horror stories about the 1.8 petrol. mine was the 2.0 XEDi
