Hi All

I have a 2002 5dr Freelander Serengeti which has started with central locking issues. At present I can only open the drivers door manually with the key, all other doors remain locked even when using the internal door handles, the key fob locks the drivers door but the open function doesn't work (however seems to try as all door lock buttons jiggle and pulling them internally is met with a pull back to locked). The dash locking button doesn't operate any locks either.

From reading posts the locks have separate actuators for locking/unlocking suggesting I have a problem with the opening one. Am I right to assume the drivers door lock is a master and the likely source of the problem as its unlikely all door solenoid would fail at the same time??

Help please

Hi Martin, yes you are correct in your assumption, it is usually the fault of the drivers master lock mechanism failing a common fault.
I replaced mine with a new one (about 100 quid IIRC ?) - however, you should be able to get one from a scrapper fro next to nothing no worries.

I know you have most likely tried already but when you open the drivers door with the key, have you tried turning it once more to see if the other doors open ? should the fob still not open the other doors ?

Hi All

Thanks for the replies, sourced a MG ZT lock and fitted over the weekend. The drivers door now operates on the fob and key however all other doors remain firmly locked with no response from either the interior/exterior handles, dash locking switch or fob. Only the tailgate and drivers door open. Anyone had this problem?

Regards
