Hi All.
First of all I'm new to this site and this is my first time that I have posted on any forum so please forgive me if I get it wrong.
I have a 2003 1.8 Freelander Serengeti SE, what I would like to know is if the head gasket modification kit that I have read about has been fitted already or am I going to have to fit it myself. I have checked the service portfolio but there is no mention of said kit being fitted. So what should I look for if the modification kit has already been fitted, and if not how much will it cost to have it fitted?
Many thanks
George:)

I bought exactly the same motor last year.

I was told by the mechanic that it had already been fitted to mine.

How surprised I was that it needed replacing within a vew short months.

I dont know much about it but from what I have read it is simply a better quailty gasket.

One thing to be aware of is that it seems on these things that the clues arent neccessarily the same as other cars..i.e my oil filler cap wasnt full of milky goo.

My best clue was using about a litre of water every couple of days...slowly increasing. There didnt seem to be agreat deal wrong with the performance. But. Obviously to continue would have eventually caused major damage to the engine.
