Hi,

Trying to remove the freewheeling hub and have removed the grub screw from the cap but the cap will not come off. On the parts break down there shows some sort of spring clip inside the cap is this what is holding the cap on and how is it removed,

Cheers

What make? i have AVM ones, at first, I was wary of getting them off, but there ias a gasket between the outside cap, and the rest of the f w hub, it can make the outside seem stuck on, but a gentle prise will get it off, underneath is a large spring (not under much tension) which sort of screws on.. can't explain really, but you'll see once you get the outside cap off. That spring (which is attached to a metal cage thing) sits over the end of the half shaft.. so from there you have a split pin thing, and then the hub nuts... That is what AVM fwh's are like, not sure about other ones, someone else will know, or do search.. good luck..

If the are fairey ones you have to remove the countersunk screw and then in the hole the screw came out of is what can best be described as a cable tie with an eye on the end you need to carefully remove this. You have to work out which way it comes out and dont give it to much grief as i'm not sure if you can still get them !!!
