For FUKS sake. Got problems with my rear windows, so trying to get the circuit board out but for the life of me I cannot remove the bottom plug for love, money nor copious amounts of swear words.

The top one came out easy enough

But I can't get the bottom one out? What is the trick? Tried with a short screw driver arounf the left side where it LOOKS like there is a tab, and all around it, but I just can't get it to budge.

Maybe the sqaure hole on the left has a tab that is released on the inside of the square hole push a terminal screwdriver in and see if it releases, I deal with multi plugs on all sorts some are complete **

Cheers Dev, I did try that but I'll have another go with some smaller drivers.

They can be such a pain to fugure out when you cannot see the catch mechanism.

I just pushed everything back where I found it and decided to live with the windows permanently up before a drove the screwdriver through the f*****g plug and broke the front windows too!

Well, I got it out, resoldered a couple of dull looking joints, but because of the complete an utter ball ache that it was to get it out I plugged it back in to test it before putting it back in it's little house and all the windows worked..

WOOHOOOO

But then my stupidity struck, I forgot to turn the ignition off and shorted it out on something, there was some smoke and a burning smell when I relised that I'd orgotten to turn the ignition off, now the rear windows don't work again because a stip of the circuit board burnt out..

I'm a dumb ass, here it is, look at the bottom left corner

Yep Daz is spot on, I dont know how many "temp" fixes I have done on boards that are still working I don't know the price of this board but on some machines the cost is crazy others they are buttons,

Doing a link with a small piece of wire will work just fine.

The other thing to check, it appears the solder has peeled itself off the PCB?

There is a *possibility* this could have shorted out the board, meaning that you'll have some other bits to repair too...

BTW any kind of wire will work, It's not going to be passing huge currents. I've used stuff from KNEX before, Or anything i've had lying around. (Just incase you don't have any and saves a trip to maplins for £2 of wire).

Cheers, yeah that strip in the bottom left corner is what burn out when I accidentally touched it against the frame work trying to fit it back in because I forgot to turn the ignition off....

Cos I am a fool

I did search for them but seemed to only find ones that were £50 or over... Must have been using different search words.

Thanks

Do what I did and go find a 300TDi in a breakers yard....make sure the batterys disconnected, cut the loom by the plugs and gently prise the black faceplate off. Take the ECU away with the plugs attached to seperate them properly at home. As long as you dont tell the breaker its an ECU when you pay they shouldnt sting you through the nose for it lol
