Too many factors, is it really just the footwell, its worth doing the front outrigger usually by the time you get the floor out, that's if you take the floor out to do it properly. For a straight footwell panel lift and weld replacement sections over perhaps £250. Whatever has corroded the footwell will usually have done the outrigger.looking to have a footwell repaired.
Don't want a cowboy on it. Any ideas of a decent garage in Kent and a rough guide for a footwell to be replaced.
Cheers
Don't agree with the body off part. I done both mine a while back. Get the parts from YRM as said. They come in two parts and fit very well. Its not a huge job by any manner of means. All going well, pardon the pun, I would reckon £200/£300 in labour + parts (not including sealing, paint etc)To be honest I thought this would be a fairly straightforward job as its a known rot point. Seems not? Lots of non Land Rover garages turning the job down, talks of lifting body off or chassis off!
Heading to a Land Rover specialist today so fingers crossed the quote won't be too expensive!
Still looking for any recommended garages in the kent area.
Very big difference which worries me. The cheaper one does seem to work on a variety of cars including old classics. As long as a footwell is a straightforward job and not a Land Rover specialist job, then I may go with them. Both garages said pretty much the same thing about how they're going to go about repairing it. I am worried that it seems too cheap now though?Hmm, big difference eh?
Don't overlook the cheaper one. It's December and some garages are happy for the work as people avoid bills they don't need this time of year.
When I got mine resprayed a few years back, I had it done in the Summer. I got it done by a very good body shop with quality DuPont 2k paint. They were happy to take it on at a lower than normal price as it helped keep the workers on the payroll even though there probably wasn't as much profit in the job as they would have liked.
Booked in for Monday so a nervous few days await after that!I'd go with the cheaper one, and I'm not normally driven by cost with such things. From what I've seen from those who have done them themselves, it's not too bad a job - certainly not a Land Rover Specialist job at all. My gut feeling is that the expensive one probably doesn't relish the job and has priced it intentionally high.
