Ive done a search but cant seem to find the answer,

I have noticed that no matter what the position of the heater control is, it doesnt seem to make a difference to where the air comes out. It always comes up the windscreen.

I get no air out of the vents in the footwell.

If I stick a finger into the vent, I can feel a flap, and if I push the flap I get loads of nice warm air out of the footwell vents, so I assume there is a cable somewhere that controls the air flow connected to the lever.

Any ideas of how to resolve? Could the cable be snapped or need tightening or something? How would I go about checking it?

Thanks

Think you've already diagnosed Rik!

Probably the cable just needs adjusting or tightening, but yes could have snapped.

Cables have fasteners on both the dashboard levers and heater unit.

Both cables (heat blend and flaps) run to the heater assembly in the engine bay. Heat blend is the top one, flaps are on the left hand side as you look at it

Aye,as said.. check yer cable. It's the metal spiral one above the black one in this photie...

That cable goes to the lower dash and works the vents flap. Not the best photies but it'll give ye an idea....

Thanks guys! I shall have a look and see what I can see, if we ever get a dry day! Thanks for the photos, they are a big help.

Excellent pics, just a question; how far should the footwell flaps move? Mine just seem to move from being tight shut to not quite shut, I can push them back to give a decent gap by hand but not from the dash lever. (or while driving:))
