fog light problem

The fog light on my 90 keeps blown fuses as soon as it's switched on. Pulled out the light conection at the back of the 90 but still blows fuse when I try the switch. Is it an idea to run a new wire from the fuse box to the switch , then from the switch to the light. Should this solve the problem and what size, ampage ratting for the wire or any other ideas welcome .cheers

take the corner pannel out inside the tub on the drivers side and have a look in there as thats where all the wiring joins up for the back lights , might have rubbed through and shorting out on the body .

While yu are fault finding, fit a bulb across in the position of the fuse, that way instead of blowing fuses, if the wire gets grounded, the light just comes on :D.

try unplugging the rear loom ( by the fuel filter and see if it blows fueses then , at least you'll know then if its the back or the front ) , should be able to trace the loom up from where it goes into the chassis at the front , just a junction plug :) .

as an after thought is this the first time you have used the fog light ? as its just a thought someone befor you may of wired up the + fog lead straight to earth in the back corner pannel ( as there all the same size bullet connectors ) .

ummmm ?????

The circuit is simple. It runs via a relay that powers up the circuit from the headlight switch (i.e. the diped beam circuit powers the relay coil.)

The power then goes into the switch, through the fuse, then to the light.

**** DO YOU HAVE A TRAILER SOCKET FITTED?***** Is this rusted up or does it have a bit of metal lodged in it (some tossers out there like doing this in the midle of the night!)

The fog ligth circuit cable color is red with yellow tracer. The supply to the relay may be red with brown tracer.

yup do have a trailer socket . unplugged all the wires thinking that maybe the prob. unplugged fog light at the same end to. When i put the switch on it affects the head lights by dimming them. So could this be a relay prob as in its earthing out, have no probs with lights other wise. It is only the fog light fuse thats blowing.
