I would like to install hella black magic driving lights to my disco 2 but i don't have a brush bar on the front, can the lights be mounted directly to the bumper in front of the grill?

Probably, but the front bumper as I found out last weekend is a complex mix of metal and plastic. There seems to be plenty of places you could drill though plastic and the bonded metal bit to make a solid bolted attachment, the trick being to know where. Safest to remove it and look from behind. Wheel arch liners have to come out - mixture of self tappers and (why?) torx fittings. Then four 13mm nuts behind the sticky out bits of bumper and two rubber mounted nuts at ends.(You only need to loosen these - not remove completely) May need to detach headlamp washers - as you may guess, I took mine apart by guesswork- wouldn't like anyone else to suffer in same way. I wouldn't have managed without ratchet spanners and a variety of flexible socket drives. Grille on mine (2000 TD5 GS) held on with two plastic fasteners and a certain amount of interference fit. Probably didn't need to come off.

Have fun!

Sorry, no photos but having spent all that time fixing the bumper, i promptly clipped another vehicle and shattered the ABS corner I had so lovingly restored. New bumper now required so will photo that when i get it!
