Hi need fog to work for mot, got 12v to red (lamp side) when switched also led works on dash, good earth and bulb tested but still no joy, just wont light?
Any ideas?
cheers jim.

Check the +12V contact is actually making good contact with the bulb.

I have problems with my reversing light not working (identical design as fog light) and likewise there is nothing wrong with the components but the live contact is barely in contact with the bulb. I bent the contact further towards the bulb a bit and it now works 99% of the time and when it doesn't it usually works after tapping the lens cover.

Thanks soms, this contact was ok, further investigation revealed an old repair
(spade connections) behind the rear door, took panel off corner of tub and there found the repair job, cleaned connections and now ok, strange thing was live wire showed 10.4 volts which I thought would have at least given a dimm light.
cheers jim.

Now I need to fix handbrake switch, but looks like something broke off it as there is a spade connector lying loose next to switch but cannot figure out what is actually broken on switch!!!

Glad you found the problem jim.

Cannot offer any advice i'm afraid on the hand brake switch as I haven't got one (switch and dash lamp that is!)

Its not the volts that power up the bulb although they have to be right for the lamp you have[eg 12v for 12v bulb 24v for 24v bulb]its the amps, you may have 12v going through the bulb but if the connection is poor and only 2 amps is going through, your 21 amp bulb it wont light and your meter will still say 12v. Avoid them blue scotch block connectors, one of the worst things ever invented.

Well tottot very interesting you say about the blue connectors as thats exactly what was causing it, and now i understand that the current must be right before bulb will light, ( ie moving volts), excellent, thanks for that.

Sorted brake light switch and think it is part of MOT!!!!
jim.

I had the same problem last week with my indicators. Voltage appeared to be fine. A visit to Tottot and after seeing the birdsnest of wires and scotch locks used to bodge the trailer lights, we changed a few for choc blocks and problem solved.

Yea pemslandy, I'd had enough of these type connectors ended up binning them
and starting from scratch, must look up choc blocks, cheers jim.
