FMV in the FAQ?

Hi all,

As a relative newcomer to the group I often feel I'm missing something
out of my enjoyment of the posts when people refer to their vehicles
with long standing nicknames. I have no idea what Morph is, or bURRt
for example, but frequently hear them mentioned. I don't know if
there's an FAQ for the group, but perhaps an FMV (Frequently Mentioned
Vehicles) would be a useful addition for the uninitiated. Of course if
pictures were also included it might be easier to recognise people at
shows. I was at the Malvern show and it would have been nice to
recognise some of the vehicles from a.f.l

Right then...crash course in some of the FMV's coming up...

Firstly and because I'm biased - I.e. they leak EP90 on my driveway ;-)

JLO - SIII Stationwagon that belonged to sis
Percy - My IIa which had a 4.2 Jag lump and 3 speed Autobox
Morph - My 101, once prototype ambulance, now prototype expedition vehicle
;-)
Oscar - Our Current Disco (Not all that famous yet but likes to show his
shine now and then)
Alfie - Our old Rangie Classis now gone but not after much restoration work
and imagery which needs sorting on my site.
Reggie - My First Rangie V8 '83 , has alot to answer for!

Then theres Simon I's bURRt which used to belong to Tim Hobbs also resident
and founder of the rule of tim (ROT) which prefixes some posts. Rule of
Tim - It's not on topoic but someone in here is bound to know.. anyway bURRt

How do I go about naming my Defender then?

Is there a convention to it?

SWMBO calls it the Beast, but only because of the size and noise it makes.

The registration ends in CDS so I thought about SEEDY'S ??

Any name you make up will sound silly to your ears within a few days, even
sooner to anyone you tell it to. If there isn't anything obvious, like
bURRt or gRUMble or JLO, then I would forget about it. The Landy will let
you know, all in good time.

hairy emerging from under a Rangie Peggy now replaced by Kato
( derived from x XX7ako) a 200 TDi Disco
Now is a good time to describe your ride and what
manuals you are short of for downloading purposes

when I were a lad we had EWD226K, also known as Edward. Edward II is
266K...

My 1984 110 V8 is variously known as "The Old Girl", "The Old Lady",
"SWMBO"(!) or "Rovey-Land" (coined by daughter no. 2) - plus the usual
unprintable variations.

Andy I noticed you advocate the use of an OBD-2 reader for gearbox and
engine diags does that allow you to reset the ECU and is that as far as you
can go with the generic unit.

Yes.

For anything else you need Rovacom or one of the other diagnostic
tools.
