Yesterday my girlfriend rang me while driving the disco to say that one of the warning lights on the dash had come on, it turned out to be the 'Diff Lock engaged' warning Light.

she said it flickered for a while, came on, stayed on for a while, then went off.

The disco is a TD5 with TC and no manual diff lock.

I got under it last night and waggled a few wires on the transfer case to see if they were sound.

I understand that some of these early disco's had diff locks in the transfer box but with no activation linkages. I cant imagine that it could engage under motorway driving on it's own, so i assume it's an electrical connection somewhere.

Any thoughts???

He may have a wire not connected with a loose end because he hasn't got manual diff lock because he has TC.

If that loose connector makes it to earth light could come on.

Try a hunt underneath gearbox (right side I think) for the supposedly redundant connector for the diff-lock switch.

While I was under there I looked for the serial number of the transfer case to see if it fell in the range of diff lock enabled transfer case. I couldnt see the number is it visible from the underside?

There also seemed to be more than one connector.
If one of them was difflock light switch, what would the other be for?

Mine is stamped into the alloy casing on a flat edge, quite large, quite obvious, but not easy to spot!

Extra wires?

Reverse, difflock, left-over 'cos it isn't an auto (is it?)

Take an earth to the left-over socket with IGN on and see if it works the light!
