Hi
After my last post about my Bamp offering me his freelander for 1000 I went for it but now am faced with a problem

When accelerating hard mainly in 3rd and 4th gear it seems starved and start juddering hard and won't rev past 3k rpm but if I just ease off the accelerator it stops.
I first thought it could be injectors so took it down the dual carriageway and just held it full throttle while it did it's dance whilst doing this I noticed a big cloud of blue smoke so not sure what could be causing it

Any one else had any similar problems or know what could be causing the problem?

I had a similar problem a while back and replacing the fuel pump under the rear wheel arch solved mine, but it may be worth doing a search to see what others have experienced in the past. EML coming on when the revs fade?

L series doesn't have the pump near the rear wheel...I don't think
 
Ok I'll try that first
Also don't know if it's related but when I'm driving along it cuts out all the clocks go off and I have to lock it and unlock it a few times until I can get the clocks to come back then it'll start.

Forgot to mention that no lights come on the dash while it has it's funny five mins

Get your alternator and battery checked seems aa loss of electrical power thus starvkng the pump or something, i used to have similar back in my old spitfire when i had the air fuel mix setup wrong and a bad condenser (and yes i know this doesnt have condenser or carbs) go tbrough all connectiins under tbe bonnet one by one clean the connectors and give tbem a squirt etc and change all your filters
 
Tried to get a fuel filter today but shop was shut so I'll have to wait till Tuesday. The problem seems to be getting worse now I can't accelerate hard going up hill or it starts bouncing about dumping smoke out the back and won't rev past 3k
 
mine started to get what felt like fuel starvation/ valve bounce at 3000 to 3500 rpm, almost like it had hit the rev limit, took out the air filter which was filthy and its fine now, btw its a 98 rover diesal
 
Air filter is usually the first thing to check in these cases...but honestly I go around 3000 rpm only when I'm on the highway at 130 km/h...I usually change gear at around 1500/2000 rpm to save fuel, knowing that the L series is not what u could call a sporty engine :D
Apart from that, it may be also the fuel pump or some wirings as already suggested by others ;)
 
Egr masses huge diff for me for more spritley now., there's a new engine cleaning proffered on the market now costs about 120quid not sure what it's called but it's basic all a machine that flushes the engine cleans the injectors etc got mine booked in at mi nephews garage when I get round to going, forge do an aerosol that's similar 2man job tho takes a good half hour I think taxi driver swear by it for extra mob (need to swap your filters and oil oncdone)
Garage I'll be using is fastfit in Sheffield dunno if your near that.
