so what i did was run a blade alone the edge of the seal that needs removing
and then run a chisel and scrape the old tape seal off

get as much out as you can i dont think you will get it all out to be fair well not without major work

this is where i ran in to problems and had to change my plan from being a permanent repair too a temp one just to seal it up till summer time found that the roof was a bit too far gone to just seal the gutter lots of rust along the bottom edge and eventually a large hole to be fair i think this is where most of the water was getting in

if you look to the right of the whole you can see the next foot or so is just as bad

too make a proper job of this repair i am going to have to take the wee window out and repair a bit round the edge of that too i really didnt have the time to strip it down to that so i just welded a wee patch over this hole(rough as ****) and threw a load of sealant along the gutter for now as i didnt want to use the hd pu stuff as it would just be more work removing it later

tbh it looks no worst than what it was before but at least it might help people understand where the water gets through the roof joint
