Its so satisfiyng, isnt it, when something wasnt working or broken, and then you fiddle for a bit, and ... it works!! even if its only small bits.
Today I are been mostly workin`, making furniture which is my job, bout 5pm I had done all I could, and seeing the landy outside the workshop doors, decided to have a look at a few bits.

First the brake lights not working, bulbs? yep ok and stop/tail, so its the switch then? took it off and tested it, not making contact.
The little plastic ones in the series 3 actually come apart so you can clean the contacts. Hey presto.. people behind me can now see when i`m stopping (or attempting to)!

Next the horn that never worked. Took it off and tested direct to the battery, not a peep. These old metal ones can again be taken apart and cleaned. So that i did. All contacts, screws etc. It now works! And even has a fresh coat of paint!
So people can hear me when attempting to stop but cant.

Now onto the infernal stuck stop cable, had a few goes at this one!
This time I mean buisness! Bonnet right up out of the way, air cleaner off and out of the way, dash stripped, bolts oiled, ignition garrel and stop cable assembly off and on the bench!
Turns out to be a stuck internal part, the bit that lets the knob back when the key is turned, I suspect a spring is gone inside the ign barrel, its a sealed unit but it works again for now thanks to the wonder of wd40.
Just have to put it back in tomorrow.

All done an in in-time fot dinner at six!

Next job incase you didn`t guess is the brakes, master cyl i think.
Then valve seals, then a bunch of oil seals on diffs etc.

Thanks for listening, and have fun playing,
James
