Hi folks. ive got the new (genuine) seal fitted into the flywheel housing and I’m about to fit it onto the crank/case.
Couple of questions.
1. The crank shows signs of wear from the old seal (see photo). Anything to do about this?

2. The workshop manual says to use some thinned ‘Oildag’ to lube the seal journal. Whats that then??

3. there should be a bead of Hylogrip 2000 used.
Can I use hylomar?

Cheers, Jim

My crank looked similar. I dressed it up with some emery cloth and steel-wool. Still had a bit of a grove and wear area but in the end worked out.
Not sure about the oildag stuff. I put some liquid moly lubricant on mine.It smelled like WD-40? 20,000k later and its not leaking.
I used a over the counter gasket sealer sold here in Morocco from permatex. Black colored stuff that states its oil resistant. I suspect any gasket seal that is oil resistant will likely work fine.
The wisdom of the form will likely chime in shortly. The 2.5NA gurus here have kept me in the clear and motoring along happily.
