Hi. Just bought some seats from a rover 620 or something like that, for my 90, only thing is no removable seat base so I can't hold the nuts to bolt them in. Would 4 large rivets per seat rail be ok? Or should I invest in a rivnut device?

Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Can you not make a frame / pair of rails that can bolt to the bottom of the seat and to the seatbox? I'd not trust rivets to hold a seat in - and anyway, what happens when you need to get under there????

There are rails on the bottom of the seat, can't really add anything underneath them or I'll be able to steer with my balls. The rails are just off from the original mounting holes so I was going to reuse one and just going to put new holes in for the other 3 but I'm not sure how to secure the nut. It's just for the drivers side. I was going to sort out a hinge on the passenger side as height doesn't matter on that one.

Could you weld a thin strip of metal, say 3" wide, to the underneath of your seats, and drill holes in it correspond with the holes in the seat box?

I think that will be the plan of action. Unfortunately means the seats will be sitting in my lounge till I can find someone who can weld. I don't mind, they are comfier than the couch :). The mrs isn't too chuffed tho.

Means you have to unbolt the seats to get to the battery though. Im doing this soon when I fit the Range Rover P38 seats.

But to reduce the number of times I have to lift the seat off to access the battery, Ive fitted Anderson connecters to the outside of the seat box, to jump start from.

can you post a pic of the seats?

My 90 had a seat of a Rover and I think the original seat rails were used, but cut to match, if its the sameas mine, I'll take a pic and show you how it was done.

thanks for all the ideas guys. if i bolt the rails to a sheet of metal and then bolt that metal to the original holes will it be ok if the whole thing is resting on the 4 nuts on the back of the metal sheet? currently on the bottom of the rails there is an angled bracket that could be drilled out easily enough, (like big hefty rivets/bolts/round things)as requested here are some pics if it helps:

thanks again
