Fitting Genuine Rear Mudflaps Freelander 1

All, a bit of help. I did find one thread - but couldn't find the answer I was after!

So here goes:

I have some Genuine REAR mud flaps for my 56 Freelander1 I need to fit. A couple of things:

1. Do you use the same holes that hold the plastic wheel arch in place (see photo of wheelarch) to attach the Mudflap?
2. If so ... I have a third hole at the bottom of the mud-flap ... do I need to make a bracket to fix it to the main body of the car?
3. I understand I may have to replace screws (if same holes) as screws are a pain to get out!
4. Treat me as a numpty who is trying to do things himself .... so please be gentle!

Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Yes you use the same 3 holes and no you don't need a bracket. If in doubt hold the mud flap up to wheel arch and you will see where the holes line up.
No doubt the screws will be a real pain to remove so plenty of WD40 will help remove them, if you do need to replace the screws the part number is DYP101620 available from Rimmer Bros at around £1.40 each. Good luck

Slimboy, Brilliant that covers it all I think! Will be having a go tomorrow at getting those screws to move .... I think I might need some mole grips. Appreciate the comprehensive answer. Muchas gracias! Paul

with regards to the screws I as the others have said soaked them in wd40 but also got an impact screwdriver and also used my cordless drill on a torque setting

can be really tough in getting them out , just takes alot of time , plenty of tea and patience,

good luck mate and fingers crossed won't be too much grief , always get a few and agree mole grips are always handy
