Hi all,

I would like to get some Leather seats for my Discovery 300tdi.

From what I can see, they all seem to be electric. I've done a search on here and I found that I need to look for the wiring. Mine doesn't seem to have it in the centre console or under the seats (1998 GS).

Is there any way it could power them? Or perhaps buy the appropriate wiring? I assume I'd need the controls and a new centre console too

If this is going to turn into a massive pain then I won't bother, but I'd love to fit a few posh bits! Mine currently has the standard cloth seats.

Do a search. Been covered many many times on this forum. But yes it is a pain and often the switches go for more than the seats cost. :( If your buying em off ebay ask for the switches as well. otherwise don't bother, at all.

I have searched and searched but I can't see a thread where someone has fitted them without having the wiring. A couple with people arguing but that was about all!

I'm clear on the seats and switches but it's the wiring I'm not sure on. I don't know whether I can bodge something up, or buy just the wiring from the switches to the seats or whether I need a whole big loom.

It's already looking like a pain in the backside!!

the switches are basicslly dpdt, double pole double throw. Or "on off on". one way moves seat forwards or up, other way reverses polarity and moves em back or down. If you're handy with wiring then getting em sorted isn't a major problem. If you're useless with leccytrickery. then it's a right twot of a job.. and you'll probably set fire to summat.

Ok, that's the sort of info I was wanting :D

I'm somewhere between 'handy' and 'useless'. It sounds like it could be a nice weekend project or a huge anger tool throwing disaster!!!

"I don't know whether I can bodge something up" if by bodge u mean wiring and u don't know if you can do it then why bother, anyway how many time do u need adjust your seat.
For me it's once a year when a shorty MOT tester moves my seat forward so he can reach the pedals :).

I want to learn, that's why I want to do it!

I need the seats to adjust because if anyone else wants to drive it they won't be able to shoehorn themself into my shortarse driving position!
