I have recently bought a '94 Disco 300TDi but have decided to replace the front screen due to large chip on passengers side. When I phoned Autoglass up to book an appointment they asked several questions about the exact windscreen to be fitted, when they asked about it being heated as it currently isn't I said no.

But this has got me thinking, how easy would it be to connect up a heated front screen if I got them to fit one in my Disco considering it doesn't have on at the moment?

And where would I be able to purchase relevant switches and wires from (scrap yard, Halfords type shop, dealer)?

Thanks, Kev627

If some of the higher spec 300tdi disco's have heated front windscreens then the chances are that the wiring will be there! Past experience on other cars I've found the the wiring loom's are the same and have all surplus plugs.. maybe better asking if someone here has a 300 tdi with a front heated windscreen and go from there..!

If getting it replaced by insurance, the price for the 2 screens will be differant make sure your insurance Co know which screen you are getting as it will affect your premium, unless you can do a deal ;)

I have a 97 300TDi with a heated front windscreen. Was fitted when I bought it and I'm not sure if it was a factory or after job, the switch its on is in one of the blankers under the clock, just to the left of the wheel.

What do you need to know?

Really I just wanted to know if the wiring for the electrics is already fitted to all Discos or wether I'd need to install it myself and if so how easy would it be to do?

Ah right, well I agree with what Disc300 said : the wiring will probably be there, it'll just be a case of fitting the switch and maybe fuse. I'll have a look when I get a chance to see which fuse is being used for it, then we'll have a better idea whether the wiring needed is already on the loom or if you'll need to fit it yourself. Either way it shouldn't be too much of a mission, unless you need to dismantle the dash.

The heater connection block is on top left (if your looking at the front of the motor) so top right corner if your sat in the drivers seat. Wiring runs down the right hand side behind the plastic and into the dash by where the drivers door electrics come out then into the underdash fuse box from the looks of things. When I have a miniute I'll have a proper look and post back.
