fitting A/C in a DEFENDER 110 D/C P-U (2009)

I am considering to buy a defender (110 D/C P-U) from 2009.
It has no AC and I would like to know whether it is possible to fit it.
Is it fesible to do it yourself, I have a good technical knowledge, but no experience in the above. Do I need to adapt the dash board and what else apart from compressors, radiators and stuff. Does it need to be connected to the ECU and what about wiring. I suppose there are kits, but not sure which kit would fit this defender.

From memory the front panel where the grille sits is also extended further out on an aircon equipped Defender. My understanding is that its much easier to buy one factory fitted than it is to retrofit it.
I`d also look to try a Defender with airconditioning if I were you - mine is factory fit and its frankly poor whether you are after cooling or heating (maybe aftermarket gear is better but to be honest I`ve never seen an aftermarket kit for a Defender), whereas the aircon on my LSE was excellent. My gut feel is that the standard LR aircon gear for a UK spec Defender is not worth it but you ought to try one to see for yourself

The aircon for a 2009 model is the much better setup for the newer 2007-on dashboard layout. Heating/ventilation is vastly improved, with aircon that doesn't just cool your knees, so it is worth having! :)

However, retro-fitting one is likely to be a very expensive task. Definitely possible, and probably not too difficult, since everything is available off the shelf. But the parts are likely to be costly and it will be a very involved job (dashboard etc. off).

For what it's worth, I would look for a Tdci Defender with aircon installed as standard. Failing that, get a non-aircon one and try and find a complete aircon system from an accident damaged vehicle in a breaker's yard as that would probably be the most cost-effective solution.
 
As mentioned above aircon in defenders has not been the best , cant say for 2009 , but i went aftermarket commercial for my 110 csw , as found that standard aircon in 300tdi 130 d/c hcpu was struggling in 40C . This firm has online catalogue for components , I used their rooftop unit and found very effective in 110csw in 45C+ .
