I’ve owned my first Freelander 2 (2008) for nearly a year now but have been plagued by a recurring fault. The car goes in to limp mode but always under the same conditions. The garage identify the fault as the air intake sensor on the exhaust manifold, clean the sensor and replaced it on the last occasion, clear the fault and all’s well until the next time. On each occurance it has been when I’m really giving the car some welly (auto gearbox in normal drive mode) and almost exactly the same distance from home (about 5 miles). Given that a new sensor was fitted a couple of months ago, it’s clearly not the cause. Any ideas?

Unfortunately I don’t know as the dealer who sold me the car have plugged in the computer and cleared the fault each time. The message on the dash says “ Reduced Engine Performance”.They said it was pointing to an air intake sensor on the exhaust manifold. It’s happened 3 times and the first two, the part they ordered didn’t quite fit so they cleaned it out and cleared the fault. The last time they fitted a Land Rover part and cleared the fault thinking all would be wel, but clearly not.
