First time freelander owner already running in to problems

I have just bought my first Freelander and it see's the prop shaft has been removed.
Firstly do I need to inform my Insurance company and How expensive is this problem to fix?

Have a look on EBay for a second hand one. Fairly easy to fix but use new nuts and bolts!

Before fitting a new propshaft, ask the question why was it removed.

Most of the time it is to hide a problem with either the VCU, the IRD or the rest diff.

It will have nothing to do with saving fuel as in reality if all is working properly it will make very little difference.
