First real problem appears

Ok so doing the rebuild on the FL td4 03 plate and have almost finished however I have come up against a problem I can't quite understand. I fitted the new window regulators yesterday and put the windows up an down a fair few times in order to get the correct alignment for the glass, this obviously used the battery power and silly me I didn't run the engine while I did it. So it came to today and I turned the engine over to find the battery had gone flat!. I jump started it from my audi an all was fine until I noticed the engine management light has come on and won't go off now. So after a dead battery the light comes on and stays on. Any ideas in what it is or could be?
It was all ok until the battery went flat.

just an idea but is the battery anygood and ur alternator working ok,

sometimes a battery just cant keep its charge, then when u try and start the car, hear a click from the starter motor and on jumping it resets , u can tell this if the milage trip has gone to zero

easiest thing is pop it into a garage if u can so they can test the battery condition and if the alternator is working

there are alot more experienced guys on here and alot of info, try doing a search to see if it helps

Not sure if the TD4 is susceptible to this but I have had a number of cars which, when you try and start them with a weak battery, will log faults and put the EML light on mainly due to duff readings from sensors due to low battery voltage. If the light it on all the time though you will need to get it on the proper equipment to read and clear the faults.

With regard to the battery, I would get this tested also, a fully charged battery in good condition will be able to start the car 20+ times without trouble, winding the windows up and down a few times wouldn't scratch the surface of a good battery.

Buy a blue tooth OBDII ELM327 reader of fleabay (about £5)
Download 'Torque' app. for your smart phone, was £1.30 when I got it.
You can read and clear engine fault codes.

The engine lights prob on due to low voltage at one of the sensors. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if that will clear the light.

yeah done the disconnect and no luck, will need to either get a reader or to the garage once ive given some sensors the once over i think. I think i may invest in a new battery just to be on the safe side though. it seems to be a strong battery as after a quick jump start and having it ticking over for only 5 minutes it seems to be fine and starts every time.
