Hi,

Just take the RR to Tixover at the weekend, so much easier to go around than in a Series 2a I had before. It's amazing being able to stop on very steep slops and the just drive off as if it were flat :D. Very impressed. The auto box is a dream, much more control over a manual, in my opinon anyway.

As i was driving around the Traction Control was on quite abit which is fine however, can some one please explain the strange / weird noise comming from the car as the TC works. Other cars that I've had the TC lights come on and you can feel the wheels gripping. But this noise i cannot work out. First is it normal? and secondly is it some kind on mechanical system?

Thanks in advance for any replys.

i also have TC on my disco, never been offroading, but i had the traction control light on solid for about 15 seconds the other day as i was trying to pull my boat + trailer through a load of shingle on the beach. I admit, the auto is awesome.

I dont remember hearing any weird noises but i did have the radio on etc. Having said that, a while ago i pulled over in a lane to let a car pass and disappeared into a deep muddy hole. The TC did pull the truck out, but it did also make a weird noise, for a short peroid. Never heard it since though.

I believe that the TC uses the ABS system to grip the wheels to stop them spinning. As with the ABS when it is activated you will hear a clicking sound as the system applies the brakes to the wheels to keep them from slipping. Is this the noise you heard or was it something louder?

TC usually makes a noise but the sound seems to varies with each model.I would expect an almost machine gun like rattle.

i used to get the same noise out of the td5,especially as you drove over an item with the steering turned the tc light would flicker for the odd second and a bit longer off road, the guys at lr told me it was very normal and nothing to worry about, however i have not heard a noise out of my p38 (also auto)but i must admit i have not taken her off tarmac yet,(ill experiment tomorrow as we busy on a new roadthis week and need an excuse).
chat later john
