I was fed up being quoted stupid figures for self adhesive insulation so I went and arranged to buy it in bulk.

The foam is a high density neoprane (excellent oil resistance) closed cell (wont hold water) foam with a peel back self adhesive backing - I went for 6mm purely because I felt due to its density it doesn't need to be 12mm although I can get it. Its similar to the LR seals used for the floors and transmission tunnel joints. So it's pretty dense and will remove a lot of drumming I hope.

I also got a roll of 3mm neoprane rubber - I am going to use this with adhesive in areas such as the boot floor, over the arches and in the front foot wells (I will leave it loose here so I can take it out if it gets wet).

Keep an eye out on my 'Defender Bodywork Rebuild' thread over the next few days and you will see it in use.

If anyone is interested the foam is £22 a meter (1meter wide) I will let you know realistically how much you need for a Defender for example, and the rubber is £10 a meter (1.4m wide).

Once I have done mine I will probably sell all the excess.

Shipping will be the price I can ship it at which will be via Hermes (cheapest I would say). Rubber is heavy but the foam is super light.

Will be interested to see the end result. I could do with properly insulating mine so may see about buying some of the foam if it looks good and does the job

I have got some 20mm thick stuff. Rock hard lol.

It's so stiff I have just cut a section and made a rad muff :)

Apologies for the pic.
