I was annoyed enough when the Ninety/One Ten came out and they stopped using Birmabright for that thin crap - are TD5 Defenders even weaker.....?

Damn, sucks that LR would do that. Later I might go with a fibreglass bonnet. I will make up a mock tyre to cover the bonnet mounts and for the coolness and if I am not happy with it I will get a fibreglass one.

Paper. Nice and light which is good but no under bonnet support.

No false tyres please.
Lol it would have had the cover over it so no one can tell. Are the bonnets with the wheel mount hard to come by there?
Not too difficult. Fitted one to my soft-top last year. I just think it looks the nuts. Funnily enough my wife suggested getting a false tyre on our 110 because of the paper thin bonnet. She's still locked away in the garden shed.

We both found not be wrong, so open up the shed
If you needed mine I could have shipped it but I am sure in the mother land of the Land Rover, you must find one there.
BTW, do you know that the stock wheels I have weigh 75 lbs each? They are heavy buggers.

This looks like a stunner.
Forget about modifying it (except for a couple of sensible things as suggested above. I will probably worth a fortune in the future.
Perhaps some extended seat rails would be a good starting point for mods? (Before you stick it on a galvanised chassis and do everything possible to make sure it stays in such good condition of course

Thanks Landyjd for the compliments, if that one in your avatar is yours, she looks awesome too. Something about the short wheel base models makes them look appealing. They look smaller but stronger...like a tug boat
I agree with you about doing tasteful mods, some vehicles you keep as original and some you can mod to the dickens. Body mods must be practical and tasteful.
I had my mod list since I was looking at a really nice two door 110 van which the owner dragged me around saying he is selling and then not selling. He cancelled meeting with me on four occasions twice when I was half way to his place. Anyways that's waste under the bridge now and he can bugger off lol.
Here is the mod list I had in mind...
1. Alpine sound system
2. HID head light conversion, auxiliary HID spot lamps
3. Viper alarm system with remote locking and power windows, two fronts only.
4. Two meter VHF amateur radio and a CB radio.
5. Back up camera with TFT display.
6. Boost gauge with maybe a ball bearing upgraded turbo.
7. Tachometer
8. Oil temperature gauge
9. Oil pressure gauge.
10. Intercooler.
11. EGT gauge.
12. Window tint all around.
13. Boost alloy wheels.
14. Maybe LED lights.
15. Redo dash board with home made gauge mounts.
16. Disco rear end to convert drums to disc brakes.
The list will grow a bit I think as I work along.

Been busy last week and a bit. Picked up the snorkel, tossed the instructions away, made up a template and installed it.
I drilled and tapped the windscreen frame using stainless steel button head screws and she fits really nicely.
I am trying to get a flange which is part of my redesigning of the intake but Christ I cant find crap here. I have to make one out of PVC and hot water piping.
The moron who did the paint job made a mess of the graphics, so I sat with Corel Draw, made up all the graphics, cut them and just stuck them on.
County was a bit small so I have to make that bigger and do something for the 110. I cut out the logo and placed it over Defender as seen in the pic.
I wanted to purchased the bonnet letters but since they are costing an arm and a right testicle, I made some too using the logo font for the letters.
The hose from the filter to the turbo cost me $250 US here, i had to get it since I don't have all my stuff here as yet to make up all out of silicone hoses.
I might remove the accents at the start and end of the bonnet graphic leaving just Land Rover alone.

Its about time
Thanks for the kind words. Its in fairly good shape, has bulkhead rust and rot of course which was patched and repaired...not to my liking but that's me, I must have things done properly.I will either get a perfect bulkhead or eventually rip this one out and fix it properly.
My guys are doing over the roof lining now, would have been done this weekend but they found some damage on the fabric roll. All seats and cargo area to be covered next but will only have four seats.
I will make a good floor and airplane carrying room out of treated 3/4" ply which will be covered and bolted down through the bench seat bolt holes.
Just finished making the remaining graphics for the rear. Had to redraw the designs to cover the old stuff, might make some changes later.
