...in my 300tdi.

Well 20 litres anyway. Yes I know, prat. Anyhow, brimmed it with diesel and all good. But what would you do know, would you refill every few gallons or run it until nearly empty? Also would you put some oil in the tank to make up for lost lubricant?

Cheers.

Assuming the tank holds 80 litres or so, a 20/25% petrol content is not good, at the very least I'd drive it gently and keep diluting it as often as possible. 5/10% petrol used to be used to help stop waxing in winter.

Thanks, yea 90 litres so pretty much 25% petrol. Have put some oil in and will re-fuel every day (approx 40-50 miles). It seems ok.

If you cant drain any out then add clean Veg oil to it when you top up instead of diesel.
Its thicker so the petrol will thin it out better.

what he said..
I I done the same thing not so long ago..
£20 of unleaded, said ****e, then £20 of diesel, then across to tescos, put in 20 litres of new veggie oil...

done hundreds of miles on it all....

did top up with more veggie half way through - never made much difference..

Bear in mind, veg oil can feck the seals in some FIP's and will scour any crap in the tank.

Yes veg will clean all the crap out of the fuel system, but as a one off mixed with diesel and petrol it shouldn't cause any blocked filter problems.

Veg oil can cause problems with old tiered IP seals, but lets face it they were likely to fail soon anyway.

Thanks all. Quick update, filled it up with veg oil this morning, about fifteen litres and it's already running better. Exhaust now smells like someone is having a BBQ down there though!
