Thats a new one on me!

Thanks for the help mate.
I have now taken it for a drive and its absolutely lovely!

The bottom swan neck of the cooler acted like a sink trap and kept all the silty muck in there, i guess after 7hours of driving (time i did-time it started loosing power) it built up, until it was vertually flowing no air!

Thanks again

As a last question people... Since doing
This to my landy.. I changed the oil to get all
The crap out...

It runs lovely now but what seems to be the tappets are making a tapping noise,
Could this be cause the old oil was thick as hell,
And the new is golden clean?

I have had the tappets adjusted but not made any difference at all.

The tapping appears to get noisier when its warm up, and louder under load

Any suggestions ? :)

Who adjusted the tappets? and did they check if any of the valve lash caps were missing?

Thats a good point
Im sure I remember reading a post some time back where a guy had the same annoying noise and its was one of the tappet rollers flat spotted

Its not a bad tapping noise, the mechanic says it sounds better than most landrovers he works on.
But its frustrating that it was lovely sounding motor prior to the events

When he adjusted the tappets. He slackened them right off 1 by 1
None of them were notabely loose, however what we noticed was

6 of the caps had circular wear marks on the top.. Normal im assuming as the gentally rotate, 2 of them the wear marks were straight on the top of the cap...
Maybe normal again.. Just seemed strange that 2 were wearing differently
