FFR Brake light switch

The brake light switch has failed on my 109 FFR. I know it's the switch at fault, because if you unplug the wires and touch them togehter the brake lights still come on. As it's an ex MOD I'm assuming that it will have been changed when the vehicle was converted to 12V. Does anybody know if it's a standard switch, same as any other Series III, or if I need to specify a special part?

The brake light switch is there to enable you to test the lamp in the switch is healthy. The lamp is there to illuminate when the shuttle valve in the dual line brake system moves for any reason - such as loss of brake fluid.

My switch broke ages ago when ii tried to change the bulb in it. I'm still looking for a spare.

Ah, slight misunderstanding (my fault). I mean the actual sender unit inside the engine compartment. At present my brake lights aren't working. I realised that if I take the connections off the "switch" in the engine compartment and touch them together, the brake lights come on. I don't mean the test switch on the dashboard. The faulty switch seems to be a simple brass screw-in job.

Its a LUCAS part. If you remove it and take it to a LUCAS dealer (or PARTCO) they will sell you a new one. Not expensive and easy to fit.

Forgot to mention that 12V/24V for a switch doesn't matter for this part.

switches are normally rated for amps not voltage. the amp difference in these sort of applications isnt much.

Thank you - got a new one yesterday from Christian Autos of Kingswood Bristol. Brake lights now fully functional once again.
