few problems help pls

Hi all just picked up my disco 300 tdi seem to have a problem i have lost all sidelights numberplate light and fuel gauge is playing up is this all part of the same system all fuses are ok but showing a dead short in the system is there a palce where they go...........



Also is there a place to get a replacment floor pannel????

Can we just clarify something here? You say the fuses are okay but there is a dead short in the system ~ two statements that are incompatible. If the fuses are okay then there can't be a short circuit.

The most likely common point for the light circuits is the switch on the stalk. The fuses for the side/tail/number plate lights are 2 and 8 (both 10A).

Do the head lights work okay?

Yeah headlights are ok
M8 had a tester on it lights the bulb then trips his meter out
would the dash lights also be conected to the indcator stalk as there out to

Instrument lights are fed via the light switch and Fuse 8 too, so again that's common.

What do you mean by tripped his tester out? Was it set to volts, amps or ohms and did he have it connected correctly?

Its 1 that tests the earth and live coming out of the wires not sure as wiring is somthing i tend to stay away from


But from your answers its looking like i could be the stalk

Spent the day ****ing about with it there is a short to the right hand side rear sidelight thats knocking everything out its not the stalk as ive tried a replacment so the next question is where does the loom run have been told its through the chasis but it looks like it runs inside the car ????? or am i just hoping
