Good evening all,
I'm looking to make my own fenders for poor beasty a 1958 Series IIa. Said critter lives in the Philippines and I'm away at a work shop with plenty of aluminium laying about. Im a fair panel beater the only thing I lack is acurate measurements. Any one have a tape measure to give me a hand? I do have plenty of coach builder drawings but none so far addresses the fenders.
Thanks and kind regards.

That sounds ambitious, the wings are made of at least 4 parts, top, front, side panel and inner nit sure if there’s a back that bolts to bulkhead
Can you not find one nearby to measure up , might be more accurate?

Series landrovers were made of a special aluminium known as Birmabright, it was an alloy of aluminium and magnesium. I don't think it is available anymore. It is more corrosion resistant than aluminium.

The shape is more subtle than it looks. I think you could make a set from soft grade ally but Birmabright is very stong and much tougher, its very hard to put a dent in a Series. It work hardens horribly so it has to be annealed every few hits, that's why you very rarely see anyone panel beating it. Depending on what the problem is I would first try to repair your existing "fenders". You can do some nice flush aicraft skin style repairs, mine has a number of riveted patches on and they just add to the aged look. The ony way I can see this being done is for somoene to make a series of profiles that you then make into a buck, But to be honest for that effort you could get some used ones freighted from the UK.
